Topic: [Multiplayer] Corrupted save Read 1815 times

Hi,

Me and a friend have been playing the game for about six hours now in co-op. We have reached hydroponics and every time when we come back from Hydroponics A my friends game crashes. We have tried to restart/reload several times and both of use reinstalled the game once. We tried to go back a few saves but the result is the same: Whenever we try to come back from Hydroponics A to B/C the game crashes for my friend. It starts to look like the save has been corrupted along the way somewhere. Is there a way to find out if a save file has become corrupted, to find out what is the latest non-corrupted save?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Since the save files are not that large I included them all in the .7z-file. 

And because we knew the multiplayer is buggy we saved often, so the saves do not go too far back. There are actually three saves about to exit Hydroponics A. First one, on slot 3 is where we first ran into problem. The save on slot 5 is where we played Hydroponics A from the save where we first entered the area. And on slot 10 is a save that was re-played from the save just before entering Hydroponics A.

The game is brilliant but we'd hate to start it from the beginning.

Corrupted is the natural state of an SS2 multiplayer save game. You were lucky to make it that far.

pretty much. last three times I've tried I didn't get past the training. no idea how people manage to actually complete the game.

When I play with a friend of mine before every transition we do 3 saves. And for every save we move around a little bit.
This way we have a pretty high chance that at least one save is working.

Apart from that we usually just play through the whole game in one go. So we rarely need to load up a save.

I've played the game through twice with friends, once with three and once with four. I guess we have to count ourselves blessed. :)

While multiplayer certainly is buggy lots of people have played through the game several times in MP, incl. yours truly.

We liked it. Body of the Many was not fun at places (jumping puzzle, anyone) but other than that we had a blast.

pretty sure it will be out of balance with 3+ players - as far as I know, minions of the Many don't grow stronger when more players join. a proper multiplayer mod would have to be developed to compensate for that.

two player game was pretty ok though when I've played it all those years ago, while the difficulty went down (but not too much, remember, at that time I did not know the game inside out, and my singleplayer choice of difficulty was normal, so multiplayer's hard brought it at about the same level), and the "alone" feeling was lost, but two players choosing their skills to complement each other and then jumping into the action was an interesting new angle on SS2. I know that not many people around here will agree on this, but once you are done with the "story mode", multiplayer is a good way of re-enjoying the game in a slightly more action oriented style.

I agree wholeheartedly, which is why multi has always been on my todo list but only after I do another single run first.  I also thought that having 4 players would seem a bit too crowded and easy, esp. with 2 marines but I guess it depends on what your expectations are.

MP generally isn't much of a challenge, it's about playing a game you love with your friends. Like watching a splatter movie with the pals. You don't get scared as you would alone, but it's its own kind of fun.

oddly i have seen similar corruption with singleplayer games on old dark.
I have not seen it in sp in new dark but I would love mp to work.
Always wanted to jam this with friends but never did due to the save bug and crashes..

Technically moving around the levels is saving-loading. When you move to another level the game is being saved, and when you go back it loads the map from the save.

I know it works like that. There must be a bit more going on than that though since enemies often change when you come back.

shyte, forgot about this one (neck deep in SCP stuff). hopefully tomorrow, depends on how dead will I be after returning from work, if not, saturday 100%.
